2021 Pine Drive Vineyards Shiraz
Dave Brookes – Halliday Wine Companion
“Deep magenta with lifted fruit aromas of satsuma plum, chocolate, olive tapenade, brown spice, dried citrus rind and earth. There's a real purity and intensity to the deep plum and black fruits on the palate, rich and inviting with spice and light floral top notes. Some nice billowing tannin architecture, too, with a rich, harmonious fruit flow and a supple, slinky finish.” 94 points.

“Dark magenta, we have excellent concentration on the nose here. Intense notes of chocolate, black olives, spices, mushrooms and black fruits. Youthful at this stage, this is from a fine vintage and should provide many years of pleasure, at least six to eight, during which time you can expect to see the ratings improve even further thanks to good focus, a long finish, supple texture and fine tannins. A very fine Barossa Shiraz.” 93 points.

2019 Pine Drive Vineyards Shiarz
Dave Brookes - Halliday Wine Companion
“Single-vineyard shiraz from Moppa in the northern Barossa at 300m elevation. Bright red purple in the glass with wonderfully perfumed ripe fruits along the lines of satsuma plum, blackberry and black cherry. Hints of violets, licorice, earth, dried cranberry, baking spice and dark chocolate combine with fine, sandy tannins and a swift, minerally acid cadence providing the pulse. A lovely, savoury contemporary Barossa shiraz.” 94 points,

“This is a Shiraz vineyard sitting right in what might be termed the dress circle for Barossa Shiraz. Lineage does not get much better. The surrounding vineyards include the legendary Block 42 which has made some of the most highly regarded Australian wines ever released, under the Penfolds banner. Other local vineyards contribute to Grange, 707, St Henri and RWT. A vibrant dark purple. The nose is chocolate, plums, blackberries, cassis, leather, coffee beans and black cherries. There is already early complexity here. Serious stuff for sure, but it is very enjoyable. Good length, fine tannins, neatly balanced and with good focus, there is a lot to like here. Drink now and for the next ten years.” 94 points.

2021 Pine Drive Vineyards Stella Grenache
Dave Brookes - Halliday Wine Companion
“Bright ruby in the glass with aromas of red and dark plum and mulberry fruits with hints of gingerbread, ground spice, teacake, dried herbs, tobacco, dried citrus rind and purple flowers. Plenty of space on the medium-bodied palate and an appealing tide of plum and berry fruits cut with spice, earth and floral top notes. Fine, powdery tannin, too, with bright acidity.” 91 points.

“A relatively new project run by a Canadian and Queenslander who met in Qatar and established a winery in the Barossa. The colour of this fine Grenache is a deep but bright red. The nose is an alluring mix of dry herbs, truffles, tobacco leaves and red fruits. An attractive softly textured palate follows, perhaps a little broad, but with a nice flick of acidity which travels the length of the wine. The appealing, neatly balanced flavours enhance the palate, through to very fine tannins with decent length. This will drink well over the next three to five years.” 91 points.
